
The has introduced a new monthly series authored by Pelehonuamea Harman, the director of Native Hawaiian engagement.

ʻŌlelo Resource of the Month will explore Native Hawaiian protocols related to ʻōlelo Â鶹´«Ã½ (Hawaiian language), cultural traditions, Indigenous learning practices and more.
In the first installment, Harman highlights a collection of ʻōlelo Â鶹´«Ã½ salutations and closings, offering practical examples for various contexts.

Harman joined UH Hilo¡¯s Office of the Chancellor in June 2024 as part of the growing Â鶹´«Ã½ Papa o Ke Ao team established throughout the 10-campus UH System to develop, implement and assess strategic actions to enhance the higher education needs of Native Hawaiians. She is tasked with helping to implement priorities such as advancing language and culture parity in areas ranging from programming and curriculum to research and hiring practices.
