President David Lassner announced an anonymous donation to extend the one-year scholarship to Lahainaluna High School students who have been impacted by the devastating August 8 wildfire. The update was part of the president¡¯s report at the monthly Board of Regents meeting held at Kauaʻi Community College on October 19.

Lassner also explained UH¡¯s extensive involvement in the state¡¯s broadband initiative and announced two recently awarded federal grants to UH—$6.6 million to UH Hilo to establish a National Native Language Resource Center and $10.9 million to establish the UH Pacific Center for Genome Research.
