All ʻ?lelo of the Week
“Being that the Hawaiian culture is steeped in a robust oral tradition, our moʻolelo are the cornerstone of the way in which we share our history, our values, our traditions and so much more. As haumāna in the UH system, I have seen countless students form a deep connection to who they are as they obtain knowledge from courses rooted in ʻike Â鶹´«Ã½ that include moʻolelo about the achievements of their kūpuna, the bounty of their ʻāina, and the truth of their past that they have never heard before. These cultural moʻolelo then become a significant part of their individual stories, which I have witnessed change the trajectory of the lives of many of our students. The power of moʻolelo is undeniable and a vital aspect of learning.”
