2 U H Manoa tennis players on court

The University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at Mānoa (4-3) won its fourth-straight match on January 29 with a 4-0 sweep over New Mexico State University (NMSU). All four of UH¡¯s wins have come at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas¡¯s Fertitta Tennis Complex. It marked UH¡¯s second sweep in three days.

In doubles, the Rainbow Warriors were able to edge the Aggies for the first point of the day. UH¡¯s No. 1 duo of Andre Ilagan and Karl Collins finished first with a 6-2 win over NMSU‘s Jordy Visser and Yehor Opanasenko. Axel Labrunie and Kilian Maitre joined forces to edge out NMSU¡¯s Corey Clarke and Roko Stipetic in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (5) on the No. 2 court to capture the first point.

In singles, the ¡®Bows kept their momentum rolling as they won three to seal the sweep. Maitre defeated Opanasenko at No. 6 to start with, 6-2, 6-2. The 41st-ranked Ilagan then held off Clarke by a break in both sets, 6-4, 6-4 and A. Labrunie clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Visser.

UH now has a winning record for the first time in 2023.
