Audiences won¡¯t have to leave their couch to catch some of the most talented students in the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ in the spotlight. The Music at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ virtual concert features a wide array of performances which includes the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Symphony paired with six-time Grammy nominee and 18-time N¨¡ H¨­k¨± Hanohano Award winner Amy ±á¨¡²Ô²¹¾±²¹±ô¾±ʻ¾± (arranged by alumnus Michael-Thomas Foumai), a traditional Javanese music ensemble and a tumultuous Chopin sixteenth-note piano solo.

The 30-minute video collage recital is a fundraiser for the UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ Music Department. This year¡¯s event is virtual and donations collected will provide scholarships and grants for students.

“As you will hear in the recital performance, the music department is full of talented musicians,” said Thomas Yee, a professor and chair of the UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ Music Department. “Many of our students are in need of financial assistance, especially during difficult times. We are proud of our students, and we want to acknowledge them by providing assistance in the form of scholarships. Grants allow the music department to showcase some of our finest students abroad.”

The concert video was produced by UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ Music lecturer William Watson and Duane Padilla, a professional violinist and educator from Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
