The (EWC), adjacent to the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹, maintained its No. 4 ranking in a University of Pennsylvania institute¡¯s annual list of worldwide, the same ranking the center has received for the last several years. In addition, EWC moved up a spot to rank eighth in the Best Regional Studies (Free Standing) category.
“We¡¯re very pleased once again to receive this important recognition of the East-West Center¡¯s high-quality research, analysis, and related educational and professional development programs. It is gratifying to see that our ranking has held steady among the top five institutions of our kind,” said EWC President Richard R. Vuylsteke.
The only three institutions ranked higher than EWC overall are affiliated with large organizations, such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and U.S. Congressional Research Service.
A panel of experts convened by the at Penn¡¯s Lauder Institute annually ranks policy and issue research organizations based on such criteria as:
- The quality and commitment of the institution¡¯s leadership.
- The quality and reputation of expert staff, and the research and analysis they produce.
- Impact on policymakers and society.
- Ability to convene key policy actors and develop effective networks and partnerships.
- News media reputation and the ability to use digital and social media to engage effectively with policymakers, journalists and the public.
- Effective management of institutional resources.
Although UH and EWC are separate institutions, they have long been close partners and neighbors.
