All 10 UH campuses will be closed Monday, August 17. The closure follows Gov. Josh Green¡¯s announcement that state, county offices and public schools will be closed Monday due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Lala.
Students and employees should look for campus-specific messages with additional information on operations, employee reporting and any other exceptions.

The has been welcomed to the 2020–21 cohort of for its commitment to improving experiences and advancing outcomes of first-generation college students. The initiative was created by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Suder Foundation.

“As a proud first-generation student myself, I am particularly proud of our current efforts to create a welcoming campus environment for first-generation students,” said Interim Vice Chancellor for Students Lori M. Ideta. “I am delighted with our campus being accepted into the 2020–21 cohort of First-gen Forward institutions. I am personally and professionally invested in ensuring that our campus strengthens our efforts in this area for this special population of students.”

First-gen Forward Institutions receive professional development opportunities, community-building experiences and a first look at the center¡¯s research and resources. NASPA also hosts a First-gen Forward Workshop where UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ can engage with other institutions who are also creating environments that improve the experiences and outcomes of first-generation students.

“First-gen Forward is an exciting opportunity for the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ to join an elite community of professionals prepared to share evidence-based practices and resources, troubleshoot challenges, generate knowledge, and continue to advance the success of first-generation students across the country,” stated Kevin Kruger, president and CEO of NASPA. “We are excited to see a groundswell of activity from the First-gen Forward cohort and know UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ will be a significant contributor.”
