In this difficult time when students around the state find themselves learning from home, new resources created in Â鶹´«Ã½ are being made available to families and educators.
Professor Kavita Rao from the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ at ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ College of Education has co-created , a website that provides resources to support all learners, including students with disabilities and English language learners.
Along with Caroline (Cary) Torres, an assistant professor at and UH ²Ñ¨¡²Ô´Ç²¹ alumna, and University of Kansas Professor of Special Education Sean J. Smith, Rao developed this online tool in less than two weeks.
“My colleagues and I put together this website in the past 10 days to help educators/teachers make the shift to online learning,” Rao said. “We launched this version 1.0 quickly in order to offer some immediate assistance to educators, parents and students. We will continue developing and adding to it in the weeks to come.”
SchoolVirtually provides information, lessons, step-by-step planning and more for educators and parents as schools have made a quick switch to distance and online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The website goes beyond lists of resources by offering tips on designing online instruction, utilizing technology tools and supporting students with disabilities and language learners.
