A team of , Arizona State and local high school students won top honors in the student category at the annual Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Business Plan (HIplan) competition. The final round of the 2018 competition took place at UH Hilo on October 27.

The six members of the winning team are two students from UH Hilo, one student from Arizona State University and three local high school students. The team will share in the prize of four full tuition scholarships for the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters for those attending UH Hilo.

The team won the student category for creating and building , a web platform that perpetuates student projects and research for college admissions, professional portfolios and facilitates collaboration with other students and their educational community. The team has been working on the project for about a year-and-a-half.

The team members are UH Hilo students George Donev and Peter Rygh;Arizona State University student Redwan Ciao; and current high school students Morgan Dean (Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Prep Academy, junior), Diza Hendrawan (Punahou School, junior) and Abby Peterson (Hilo High School, junior).

“We¡¯re planning on expanding this to a professional business venture and applying to startup accelerators, so it¡¯s really awesome to be recognized,” said Donev in an . “We are currently participating in Y-Combinator¡¯s StartUp School cohort after being selected from a pool of applicants. We have also recently been accepted into Venture Devils, a startup accelerator program.”
