
alumnus Manuel “Manny” August?Jr.?has established a $35,000 endowed scholarship for full-time undergraduate or graduate students pursuing an accounting degree at college¡¯s . The scholarship will also receive $5,000 from as a matching contribution for fall 2017.
“I believe a strong financial education for our children is key to the future success of Âé¶¹´«Ã½,” says August.?“I am excited to establish this endowment for students of the Shidler College of Business to help them achieve the education needed to succeed.”
Scholarship recipients must be graduates of?public high schools in Âé¶¹´«Ã½, and demonstrate community service and leadership qualities.
About Manuel August Jr.
August, who graduated from Castle High?in windward Oʻahu, is an area sales manager for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. He is responsible for the sales team in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and sales offices?in Corona, California. Before entering the mortgage industry, he was a senior accountant in the Audit and Consulting Services Division with KHM LLP, previously known as Arthur Andersen LLP.
He is active in the community,?volunteering?with?charitable organizations that include?Habitat for Humanity, Family Programs Âé¶¹´«Ã½, American Heart Association, Special Olympics Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and the?Blood Bank of Âé¶¹´«Ã½. He serves on the School of Accountancy Advisory Board, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Academy of Science Board and the ±á´Çʻ´Ç°ì¨¡°ì´Çʻ´Ç Corporation Board.
August received his BBA in accounting from the?Shidler College of Business in 1998, and was previously a certified public accountant, licensed in Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
