
Katie Patrick, a spring 2017 MFA graduate in costume design, was awarded a .
Patrick will begin her research project, “Immersive Study of the Practice and Preservation of Regional Kabuki in Modern Japan,” in October 2017. She will be working for a year under Sachie Oguri, owner and manager of the Mino Kabuki Museum and Aioi-za Theatre in Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Oguri is widely recognized in Japan for her work in kabuki costume restoration and revival of Edo Period (17th-19th Century) costuming techniques and patterns.
Patrick was most recently seen as the mountain priest in Two Mountain Priests in the spring Asian theatre kyogen production Power and Folly: Japanese Satire for the 21st Century.
