Make a difference to future generations in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ by celebrating the profession of teaching and helping to answer the need for more educators in our state. The second annual It’s Great to Be a Teacher in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ event will be held on Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m.—1 p.m. at the Leeward Community College, Education Building.?It is free of charge.

The University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ is joining forces with public and private supporters of this event to call attention to the It’s Great to Be a Teacher in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ and to provide information on the paths to becoming a teacher in Âé¶¹´«Ã½.

Anyone interested in learning how to become a substitute or full-time teacher in a Âé¶¹´«Ã½ public, private or charter school should attend. This includes emergency hires, educational assistants, substitute teachers and part-time teachers.

What you’ll learn:

  • Why teaching is rewarding: Hear perspectives from a panel of award-winning educators.
  • How to become a teacher: Learn from public, private and charter school representatives.
  • Sharpen your teaching skills: Attend complimentary breakout sessions in classroom management/instructional strategies and teaching tips.
  • Where to enroll: Learn about different paths to licensure from accredited, state-approved teacher preparation programs.
