The art of debate was brought up by the college as an important skill when facing current Hawaiian struggles. Â鶹´«Ã½Hilo Lecturer Aolani Kaʻilihou’s fall seminar focused on studying traditional to modern Hawaiian forms of debate.
At the November 2 teach-in, the students participated in two mock debates with professors from the college. Using the Hawaiian language in a context of debate opened up perspectives of how the College of Hawaiian Language could grow and continue to be relevant to current issues surrounding the local community.
Teach-in participants also took part in many mini-workshops at the all-day forum.
