Karl Kim, professor of the and executive director of the at the , met with the Sultan of Tidore of Eastern Indonesia, to discuss natural hazards and opportunities for research, training and education with university partners.
A team of UH faculty, including Dolores Foley, Kem Lowry, Bruce Houghton and Keith Bettinger are in Indonesia as part of a (USAID) funded training program on disaster risk reduction. In addition to discussing flooding, coastal hazards and sea level rise, the UH team is also supporting efforts to strengthen training and education on food security, transportation systems and trade.
