The UH community is saddened by the news of the passing of Bernard Ray “B. Ray” Hawke of the at the .
A highly regarded lunar scientist, the bulk of Hawke’s research focused specifically on collecting measurements of color at high resolution of small spots on the Moon. These studies contributed greatly to scientist’s understanding of the geological evolution of the lunar crust.
He died on January 24 at Straub Hospital at age 68.
Hawke joined the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ in 1977 as a planetary geologist and would later become part of the . He collaborated with many colleagues in Â鶹´«Ã½ and around the world, sharing his knowledge and insight.
