They offered this response:

We acknowledge the right to one’s opinion, and the freedom one has to share it within this forum. We would like to highlight that Former Vice President Gore has waived his speaking fees, which, with support from other sponsors, has helped make tickets to this event free.

There are a variety of view points on climate change and the effects of global warming. As a coastal community with finite natural resources, Hawai’i is uniquely positioned to benefit from proactive measures toward achieving sustainability and anticipating measurable effects of climate change. Mr. Gore’s lecture provides insight to some ideas and information to which there will likely be a spectrum of responses.

Hi Mariah,

Unfortunately there are no planned appearances for Former Vice President Gore on Hawai’i Island at this time. There will be broadcast, print and social media coverage of the event.

An ex-politician who makes millions from preaching about sustainability and climate change, while living a lifestyle quite the opposite, sounds like a waste of time and money to me.

I think that much of his data has been refuted (as contrived) based on the contraversy surrounding the emails of the English Academics and as I look around I don’t see the gross effects that he predicted. I really believe politcians should stay in the realm of politics and leave science to scientists (who conduct open studies, with no preconcieved results) unfortunately I beleive there are some out there that would skew their data to obtain the desired results.
