
University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Regent was honored by the with the Pualu Award for Lifetime Service. Carlson was recognized for his longstanding dedication to serving the best interests of Âé¶¹´«Ã½, both the state and the island. As founder of Huʻehuʻe Ventures, he provides real estate consulting and agricultural property management services.
Carlson was a trustee of the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust and served on the boards of Parker Ranch and Waimea Wastewater. In the ranching realm, he also served as a board member of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Meat Company, Kahua Beef Sales and Island Commodities Corporation.
Carlson has also served a term as chair of the County of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Board of Ethics, served two terms on the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ State Board of Agriculture, is a former member of the Historic Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Foundation and the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. From its inception, he served as vice president of the Kohala Center and currently sits on the advisory committee of the Kukio Community Fund, a charitable fund administered under the umbrella of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Community Foundation.
He is one of the founders and serves as facilitator of the Kona Water Roundtable. Carlson has twice served as chairman of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Leeward Planning Conference, twice been a board member of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and is a member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
The chamber also recognizes Carlson for his seat on the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s , and his perseverance, dedication and commitment to bringing a new campus and a new level of higher education to West Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
