More Âé¶¹´«Ã½ public school graduates are going to college, according to a recent report from Âé¶¹´«Ã½ P-20.

Fifty-three percent of Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s public high schools’ class of 2011 enrolled in college for the fall semester following their commencement, an increase of three percent over the previous years’ graduating class enrollment.

The increase in college-going rates and college preparation is reported in an annual study recently issued by and the .

The College and Career Readiness Indicators report presents information on how well Âé¶¹´«Ã½ public school graduates are prepared to meet the Department of Education’s . It is an annual collaboration between the Department of Education and the , and is coordinated by Âé¶¹´«Ã½ P-20 Partnerships for Education.

“The College and Career Readiness Indicators report is an important tool that provides the information we need to see if our state is improving the college-going rate of our public high school students, and to gauge progress on their assessments and college remediation rates,” said Âé¶¹´«Ã½ P–20 Partnerships for Education Executive Director Karen Lee. “This information is invaluable to the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ P–20 mission of 55 percent of working age adults having a two- or four-year college degree by 2025.”

According to the report, the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ remains the top choice for students, with 40 percent of the class of 2011 enrolled in one of 10 UH campuses for the fall 2011 semester. This represents 80 percent of those graduates who entered college.
