Although it was mentioned that it is a rare disease, I can’t help but worry since I have children and we are Asian.

My daughter and her husband, both, had the disease in 1981 (Winter and Spring, respectively). My daughter, 33 years old, is of Japanese ancestry, but was born and raised on Oahu. Her husband, 35 years old, had heart problems in his late teens/early twenties. He is of German ancestry, but was born and raised in Indiana. They are both graduate students at UH-Manoa. I’m wondering if there’s any genetic link to the disease that might predispose any of my future grandchildren to acquiring the disease.
