Course Approval\/Questions<\/h2>\n

Current students must complete an advising sheet each semester and have it approved by their faculty advisor prior to registering for any LIS courses. Incoming new students will consult with an advisor and register at the New Student Orientation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unclassified students who wish to enroll in LIS courses should send email to LISinfo@hawaii.edu<\/a> to check course availability, with the understanding that currently enrolled LIS students (and incoming new students) have priority for available seats. Unclassified student registration cannot occur until after each fall\/spring semester’s New Student Orientation<\/a> has completed, although summer session courses are open to anyone.\u00a0Those without an MLS, MLIS, or MLISc degree must have permission from the course instructor to enroll in any LIS course.<\/p>\n

Note: any Â鶹´«Ã½employee using a tuition waiver, who is not already a classified student working on their MLISc degree, but who wishes to enroll in an LIS course, must contact the Program far in advance of the start of the semester to make arrangements; please do not wait until the first day of the semester to request course approval.<\/p>\n

Registration<\/h2>\n

Course registration is conducted online via the\u00a0MyÂ鶹´«Ã½Services<\/a>\u00a0registration system. Refer to the UH\u00a0Academic Calendar<\/a>\u00a0for registration deadlines. For additional information about registration policies and procedures, please refer to the Registration<\/a> & Advising Overview<\/a> pages.<\/p>\n

Note: Some courses are offered through the Â鶹´«Ã½M\u0101noa Outreach College extension schedule. When registering for LIS courses that have an “[ES]” notation, select that semester’s extension option when registering online.<\/p>\n

Three-year Tentative Schedule*<\/h2>\n

In order to help students plan out their studies in the LIS Program, the faculty makes the three-year schedule projection available (see above link). This is a tentative<\/strong>\u00a0schedule only, and is subject to change. Students should refer to the schedules published each semester to confirm that a\u00a0course is being offered.<\/p>\n

Location and Schedule of Courses<\/h2>\n

Courses are held\u00a0at\u00a0the Â鶹´«Ã½M\u0101noa campus in Honolulu.\u00a0Online and hybrid course delivery options are available as resources permit.<\/p>\n

Classes meet once a week in the fall and spring semesters. Summer sessions may include three-week courses meeting daily Monday through Friday, or six-week courses meeting three times weekly.
