{"id":8410,"date":"2025-02-26T15:06:50","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T01:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/?page_id=8410"},"modified":"2025-07-09T21:11:50","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T07:11:50","slug":"bam-degree","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/bam-degree\/","title":{"rendered":"BAM Degree"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Combined <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/bam\/\">Bachelor\u2019s &amp; Master\u2019s Degree (BAM)<\/a> afford a way for highly motivated students to efficiently complete a bachelors degree and masters degree in a shorter time frame by double-counting course work (3 courses) at the undergraduate tuition rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LIS Program currently has one BAM agreement with the Information and Computer Science (ICS) bachelors degree program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prerequisites to apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be a classified student in the ICS undergraduate program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must complete ICS 311 Algorithms with a B or higher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student may apply for the LIS graduate program in the final semester of their junior year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/admissions\/how-to-apply\/\">LIS graduate application requirements<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Senior Year:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete LIS 601 Introduction to Reference and Information Services in the first semester (minimum grade of B)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete First Semester Seminar (FSS), a noncredit seminar series, during the first semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete LIS 605 Metadata Creation and LIS 630 Community Engagement during the final semester<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete remaining ICS bachelors degree requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate with Bachelor of Arts in Information &amp; Computer Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Year 5+<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete remaining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/programs\/mlisc-degree\/\">MLISc degree requirements<\/a> (30 credit hours)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate with Master of Library and Information Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/lis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ICS-LIS-BA-MLISc-five-year_plan-feb2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICS-LIS BAM Sample Academic Plan<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact both programs for additional information concerning the requirements and\/or restrictions of the ICS-LIS BAM program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Combined Bachelor\u2019s &amp; Master\u2019s Degree (BAM) afford a way for highly motivated students to efficiently complete a bachelors degree and masters degree in a shorter time frame by double-counting course work (3 courses) at the undergraduate tuition rate.
