The State Department warns that \u201call applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas will be instructed to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media profiles to \u2018public.\u2019\u201d Students should be prepared for their social media profiles to be examined as part of the visa application process.<\/p>\n<p>Check the website of the relevant U.S. Embassy or Consulate for the latest appointment availability and instructions. Expect possible delays or limited appointment availability as visa services resume. Many embassies and consulates may experience backlogs due to high demand following the restart of F, M, and J visa processing. Plan ahead and apply early.<\/p>\n<p><b>Potential Expansion of Travel Ban<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a related development, it has been reported that the Trump administration is considering adding 36 additional countries to the current travel ban list. These countries face inclusion if they do not comply with new requirements set by the State Department within 60 days. ISS will continue to monitor and provide updates as more information becomes available.
