Â鶹´«Ã½Policy for F-1 International Students<\/h2>\n

The University of Hawai'i (UH) requires F-1 international students to have adequate health insurance coverage throughout their programs of study. F-1 students must either enroll in a Â鶹´«Ã½endorsed student health insurance plan or furnish proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan that provides the required minimum coverage set by the President or the President's designee.<\/p>\n

Proof of acceptable health insurance must be submitted to the Â鶹´«Ã½Student Health Insurance Office (SHIO)<\/strong>, go to\u00a0https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/shs\/international\/<\/a>\u00a0for information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Health Insurance Requirement for F-1 Students<\/h2>\n

The University of Hawai'i requires that students maintain health insurance that meets the following minimum coverage levels throughout their program:<\/p>\n

Submitting Proof of Health Insurance to the Student Health Insurance Office (SHIO)<\/h2>\n

All F-1 students must provide proof of compliant health insurance coverage to the\u00a0Student Health Insurance Office (SHIO)\u00a0to update the\u00a0health insurance hold\u00a0(IH)\u00a0and register for classes.<\/p>\n

Visit<\/b>\u00a0the\u00a0SHIO website<\/a>\u00a0for instructions and access to required forms. Submit proof of adequate health insurance coverage to SHIO.\u00a0\u00a0SHIO will review your submitted documents to verify that your insurance meets university requirements.If you're requesting a waiver (e.g., conducting research abroad), refer to SHIO\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>Forms and Memos<\/a>\u00a0section for details.<\/p>\n
