{"id":99,"date":"2016-07-08T08:22:50","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T08:22:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/testehso\/?page_id=99"},"modified":"2025-12-29T13:14:38","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T23:14:38","slug":"hazardous-waste-generator-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ehso\/hazardous-waste-generator-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Hazardous Waste Generator Training"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Federal and State regulations as well as the Â鶹´«Ã½<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ehso\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/UHHMMP01.pdf\">HMMP<\/a>\u00a0require that all generators of hazardous waste receive mandatory initial training and annual refresher training. The purpose of the training is to provide waste generators with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/hwgenerators\">EPA requirements<\/a> and University hazardous materials\/waste policies and procedures. EHSO will not accept a request for disposal of excess hazardous materials or hazardous waste unless the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ehso\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Hazardous-waste-Turn-In-Form_UH-MANOA-EHSO_updated-2025.xlsx\">Hazardous Waste Turn in Form<\/a>\u00a0is signed by a generator that has attended the initial training or a refresher training within the past year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Initial Hazardous Waste Generator Training is being held online. There are no in-person Initial Hazardous Waste Generator Training courses scheduled. Please fill out the Google form below to sign up for the online Initial Hazardous Waste Generator Training course. It may take 1-2 business days to process your request. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must be a Â鶹´«Ã½employee working on the Manoa campus or at a Manoa-based Off-Campus facility (UHCC Kaka\u2019ako, HIMB, IFA, Kewalo Marine Lab, Lyon Arboretum, UHMC, Waikiki Aquarium) to receive the training link. ONLY Â鶹´«Ã½users with a Â鶹´«Ã½username will be able to access the EHSO online trainings in Lamak\u016b beginning January 1, 2026. Laulima will no longer be available after midnight on December 31, 2025.\u00a0 All Â鶹´«Ã½employees, faculty, staff and students, should have a Lamak\u016b account. If you were missed in the transition, you may request an account by completing the form here: <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaii.kualibuild.com\/app\/66ba487f321f6a0147f59345\/run\"><strong>Request a Lamak\u016b User Account.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are a NON-Â鶹´«Ã½USER, please continue to fill out the google registration form at the link below so we, EHSO, can begin the process of requesting you a Lamak\u016b guest user account. We thank you for your patience during this LMS transition as it may take up to 4 days to process the guest accounts.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For record-keeping purposes, please provide a copy of all your training documents to your PI or lab supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are unable to issue certificates at this time so please take a screenshot of your passing scores and training verificatons and keep all receipts received by email or otherwise until the system can be fine-tuned to prove and verify your training has been successfully completed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please contact Leimomi Kekina, EHSO Education Coordinator, via email at <a href=\"mailto:kekina@hawaii.edu\">kekina@hawaii.edu<\/a> with any training related questions or if assistance is needed scheduling classes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>JABSOM Kaka&#8217;ako personnel<\/strong> should not register for the Â鶹´«Ã½EHSO Initial Hazardous Waste Generator training and should instead contact JABSOM EHSO Staff to coordinate site specific online training.
