{"id":26,"date":"2015-10-22T19:50:39","date_gmt":"2015-10-22T19:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/p20.test.hyperspective.com\/dualcredit\/?page_id=26"},"modified":"2026-02-13T12:14:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T22:14:21","slug":"how-to-apply","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/dualcredit\/how-to-apply\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Apply"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\".\/dual-credit-application\">Application Link<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>STEP 1: Meet with your high school counselor<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Discuss which dual credit program is the best fit for you to understand the benefits and potential impacts related to your high school graduation requirements.\u00a0 (As a reminder, the University of Hawai\u02bbi at M\u0101noa does not participate in the Running Start program.)<\/li>\n<li>Determine which classes to take.\u00a0 (This may be a collaborative conversation with the Running Start or Early College contact\/counselor at the Â鶹´«Ã½campus you&#8217;d like to attend.)<\/li>\n<li>Ask your counselor about the deadline(s) at the Â鶹´«Ã½campus you wish to attend.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss and complete placement requirements for the class.\u00a0 (This may also be a collaborative conversation with the Running Start or Early College contact\/counselor at the Â鶹´«Ã½campus you&#8217;d like to attend.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>STEP 2: Work with your counselor on required forms<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the Â鶹´«Ã½System Application form.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/dualcredit\/dual-credit-application\/\">Dual Credit Application<\/a> form; specify selected classes and authorize Â鶹´«Ã½to forward your grades to the high school registrar upon completion of the class.\n<ul>\n<li>When you click the &#8220;Submit Application&#8221; button on the Dual Credit Application and the print screen appears, this is confirmation that your application has been submitted completely and received by the dual credit website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Print or save the Dual Credit Application as a PDF and obtain all the required signatures.\u00a0 Work with your high school counselor and Â鶹´«Ã½Running Start or Early College contact\/counselor to submit the Dual Credit Application and any other required documents to the Â鶹´«Ã½campus by their application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>If a blank screen appears when you click on the &#8220;Submit Application&#8221; button on the Dual Credit Application, that means your application <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>was not submitted and received by the dual credit website<\/strong>,<\/span> and you will need to submit a new Dual Credit Application form.\u00a0 Do <strong>not<\/strong> include diacritical markings (\u02bbokina, kahak\u014d, apostrophes, etc.) on your application; If you have other specific questions, please contact your high school counselor.<\/p>\n<h4>Q: Do I need to complete a new online Dual Credit Application form if I applied before?<\/h4>\n<p>Yes. We need the most current information on your application every semester that you apply.<\/p>\n<h4>Q: What if I made a mistake on my submitted application?<\/h4>\n<p>If you submitted an application with a mistake on it, please contact your high school counselor to make the correction, or call 808-956-3879 to request to make a change.<\/p>\n<h4>Q: Is there a deadline for the dual credit program application?<\/h4>\n<p>Yes. There are various deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>For the GEAR UP Running Start Scholarship: please visit the <a href=\"\/dualcredit\/running-start\/\">Running Start<\/a> page for all semester deadlines.\u00a0 (GEAR UP Running Start Scholarships will not be available after the Summer 2026 term.)<\/p>\n<p>If you are not applying for a scholarship and are applying for Early College and\/or Running Start, deadlines may vary for each high school and Â鶹´«Ã½campus. Please verify the dates with your high school counselor.<\/p>\n<h4>Q: Can I apply to both Early College and Running Start programs in the same semester?<\/h4>\n<p>Yes. You are able to apply to both Early College and Running Start in the same semester.
