Student Information

Courses

1. For students participating in dual credit programs (i.e., Running Start and Early College), the University of Hawai鈥榠 and the high school reserves the right to determine admission to the university/college and/or registration in certain classes.
2. Students who are homeschooled will be able to participate in the Early Admit Program. Participation in the Early College and Running Start Programs is not permitted for homeschooled students.
3. Students participating in the Early Admit Program are only guaranteed to receive college credit for any college classes they successfully complete. For students participating in the Early College and/or Running Start Programs, the high school is the final authority on high school graduation requirements. Students must work closely with a high school counselor to ensure that graduation requirements are met. It is understood that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure prior to enrolling that the college course(s) completed as part of the Early College and/or Running Start Program will also meet high school graduation requirements.
4. For students participating in the Early College and/or Running Start Program, the parent/guardian and student understand that if the student does not successfully complete the college courses taken as part of the Early College and/or Running Start Programs, the student may not be able to meet high school graduation requirements.
5. The student and/or parent/guardian may be responsible for tuition and campus fees, books and consumable supplies, laboratory fees, transportation, and any other related educational expenses as applicable.
6. The parent/guardian and the student understand that the student is expected to participate fully in all course activities, including labs, which may involve being exposed to alternative viewpoints that may include material of an adult nature.
7. The parent/guardian and student understand that the student’s high school is not liable for the student’s health and safety when the student has left the high school campus.
8. The parent/guardian and student understand that students participating in college classes in high school through the Early College, Running Start, or Early Admit Programs have the same rights and responsibilities as any other University of Hawai鈥榠 student.
9. The parent/guardian and student understand that the University of Hawai驶i’s policies and procedures apply to students participating in college classes in high school through the Early College, Running Start, or Early Admit Programs – in addition to all policies and procedures relevant to their high school (e.g., the Hawai驶i State Department of Education, etc.). Specifically, the University of Hawai鈥榠’s EP 1.204 – Sex and Gender Based Misconduct Policy – applies to all high school students participating in college classes. EP 1.204 makes confidential resources available to all students and these confidential resources are not required to notify parents/guardians of services rendered to students. The University of Hawai驶i also may require students to complete training related to its policies, including EP 1.204, which may contain adult content or content that may not be age-appropriate. 10. Where applicable, the student gives permission for the University of Hawai驶i campus to release registration information, grades, placement test scores, student academic progress, attendance, and on track completion of coursework to his/her high school administrator(s) and/or counselors.
11. If I am the parent/guardian of a student attending a public high school, I give permission to the Hawai驶i State Department of Education to verify the socioeconomic status of my child and provide other demographic data (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, etc.) to the University of Hawai鈥榠 for the purpose of determining eligibility for various 麻豆传媒scholarships, subject to funding availability.
