The University of Hawai\u02bbi Broadband Office (UHBO) has concluded its Request for Proposals (RFP) process to select a subgrantee to build out high-speed broadband infrastructure to all unserved and underserved households as part of the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BEAD Final Proposal<\/strong> is a detailed plan <\/strong>of where federal BEAD funding will be expended to bring high-speed Internet access to unserved, underserved, and community anchor institution (CAIs) locations statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Final Proposal outlines how Hawai\u02bbi completed the BEAD Challenge Process, selected the deployment subgrantee to build infrastructure to unserved, underserved, and CAI locations, and implementation plans for the duration of the BEAD program. In other words, the Final Proposal is Hawai\u02bbi’s roadmap<\/strong> for closing the digital divide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Per NTIA guidelines, UHBO published a draft Final Proposal for public comment on August 27, 2025. Comments could be transmitted by phone or email, and UHBO received several submissions during the 7-day public comment period ending on September 3, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Final Proposal was submitted to NTIA on September 4, 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hawai\u02bbi received NTIA approval of its Final Proposal on November 18, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\nView the Final Proposal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
